The Finnish landscape is characterized by forests and lakes. Uniform at first glance, it reveals its diversity in detail. Our project aims for similar subtlety. Like a mushroom, the majority of the building is invisible from the outside and is located underground. At the highest point of Ounasvaaran Mountain, it rises discreetly from its surroundings and only the entrance can be seen. A spacious hall leads to the lower level where the restaurant and lounge area and the entrances to the rooms are located. A glass funnel rises in the center, offering glimpses of an underground world full of life and diversity. In addition to sleeping and relaxation areas, each suite has its own sauna and subterranean terrace. The play of colors of Aurora Borealis, the root formations of the vegetation and the thriving life underneath the ground become part of the room and can be observed undisturbed. The guests can completely immerse into the landscape without negatively influencing it. They become part of the atmosphere and environment again...
